One august morning i walked out in the backyard and while drinking coffee i painted the tree that we are trying to bring back to life. I’m happy to say that it seems to be going alright and hopefully next summer it’s fully back to being healthy. The left part of the tree is fully dead though and i’ve now remade it into a cat climbing tower. I painted this one in gouache.
Gifts from my cat
After we finished our move to the house our cat quickly learned what life outside of the city is like and he also found the joy of hunting. So i started finding mice around the yard a lot, and one day i decided to paint one of them. Don’t ask me why because i don’t know. I just felt like it. This one is in oil on paper.
Sunset light on treetops
This is technically not in my sketchbook but it’s definitely a sketch. More specifically a color study of treetops. In the forest behind our house there’s a steep slope down to a river, and when you’re standing at the top, the treetops from the trees going down the slope are basically in head hight, and when the light from the sunset hits them it’s really beautiful. So here i was just trying to hit the color notes without caring about the detail or really the forms in general. This one is in gouache.
First post in the sketchbook!
My mother in law came to visit today and i made a small oil painting of her when she was trimming the grass in the backyard.
